OUR STORY
SafePath Indy Housing was founded in 2023 by Lionel Henderson in response to a critical housing gap in Indianapolis's growing community. Individuals returning from incarceration were routinely released without safe or stable housing, increasing the likelihood of homelessness and reincarceration. Observing this and many other negative outcomes felt by the surrounding neighborhoods, Founder Lionel Henderson decided to launch SafePath as a powerful, dignified, and scalable solution. With a background in business, real estate, and technology, Lionel is spearheading an organization that is now meeting urgent housing needs while building long-term infrastructure that supports community stability and reintegration for countless lives. Today, SafePath operates fully furnished homes with near full occupancy, equipped with a robust network of partners across the justice and workforce sectors.
